AFT Micromécanique, a company committed to the protection of the environment, has recently taken an important step in its efforts to promote biodiversity. By installing three beehives on its site in Fillinges, the company has welcomed no less than 135,000 bees, which contribute not only to the production of honey, but also to the pollination of nearly 2 billion flowers each year. As part of the International Day for Biological Diversity, AFT Micromécanique wishes to highlight its actions in favor of biodiversity and to make its employees and their families aware of the importance of bees.
The essential role of bees:
Bees play a crucial role in the preservation of biodiversity and the survival of many plant species. Through their pollination activity, they enable the reproduction of flowering plants, promote the formation of fruit and seeds, and thus participate in the reproduction of ecosystems. Bees are also responsible for the production of honey, a valuable natural resource with multiple benefits.
AFT Micromécanique’s hives:
The three hives installed by AFT Micromécanique each house approximately 45,000 bees, for a total population of 135,000 bees on the company’s site. Each year, these hives will allow the harvest of 50 kg of honey per hive, for a total of 150 kg of tasty, quality honey. To ensure the health and well-being of the bees, a professional beekeeper is responsible for the regular monitoring and maintenance of the hives.
Creating a favorable environment:
AFT Micromechanique has also taken steps to provide bees with a pleasant working environment. A flourishing meadow will be laid out around the hives, providing the bees with an abundance of flowers to forage. This initiative not only contributes to the health of the bees, but also adds a touch of natural beauty to the company’s working environment.
Awareness workshops for employees:
Aware of the importance of educating its employees about the preservation of biodiversity, AFT Micromécanique plans to organize workshops to raise awareness and explain how a beehive works. These workshops, which will take place in small groups around the hives and in a secure environment, will allow participants to better understand the crucial role of bees in the ecosystem and to discover the wonders of life in a hive.
Involving children:
In addition to raising awareness among employees, AFT Micromécanique also wants to educate younger children about the importance of bees and pollination. Using the company’s online infrastructure, workshops will be offered to employees’ children. These educational initiatives will offer children a unique opportunity to learn about biodiversity, bees and the need to protect our environment.
By installing beehives on its site and offering awareness workshops to its employees and their children, AFT Micromécanique demonstrates its commitment to biodiversity. The company actively contributes to the preservation of bees, the pollination of flowers and the production of honey. These concrete actions aim to encourage environmental responsibility and raise awareness of the importance of protecting our precious ecosystem.

AFT Micromécanique, which specialises in machining and milling for the Medtech industry, is celebrating its 25th anniversary, with very promising development prospects. AFT Micromécanique is a perfect example of a company that has been able to adapt the skills of an area renowned for its know-how in screw-cutting for the automotive industry, by specialising in machining for the Medtech industry.
Founded a quarter of a century ago in Fillinges (France), in a valley known worldwide for its technical expertise in screwcutting for the automotiveb industry, AFT Micromécanique has developed a recognised know-how in high-precision machining and NC milling of medical devices. AFT Micromécanique is a model in machining useful medical implants, from head to toe, whether orthopaedic, cervical and spinal implants or dental implants.
It also manufactures urological and hearing-aid housings. The company specialises in machining medical instruments used in the dental sector and surgical robotics. It manufactures forceps and forceps tips, mainly in stainless steel type 316L or 17-4PH with passivation.
“Medical parts require several different machining operations and complete precision,” explains Jérôme Frésard, CEO of AFT Micromécanique. “All our machined components meet the strict standards of the medical industry. Each part is tailored to our customers’ needs and requirements using titanium, stainless steel and PEEK. We also assemble complex ready-to-use parts.”
Jérôme Frésard represents the 4th generation of the Frésard family, which is active in the industry. It was his father who created AFT Micromécanique in 1997 by daring to be the first to specialise in screw-cutting for the medical industry. Since then, the company has grown, building a second production site in Courgenay, Switzerland in 2019.
“This development means we are closer to our customers and having two
production sites guarantees the security of supply, as well as meeting the demand of those of our customers who are committed to the Swiss Made label,” explains Jérôme Frésard. “This is a new guarantee for our customers, as is our integration into the Acrotec Group, whose values and Medtech quality offer us value added.”
AFT Micromécanique now employs 60 people, 47 of whom are based in Fillinges. The company continues to grow, with turnover almost doubling since 2018.
“We attract both young, innovative start-ups and well-known medical end-product companies that appreciate our ability to produce small volumes,” explains Jérôme Frésard. “AFT Micromécanique has an excellent reputation in the medical market and the development potential is huge with the innovations we are involved with.”
From March 2 to 18, Ludivine Le Goff and Ophélie Doyen traveled through France and Morocco. From Nice to Essaouira, two Gazelles took part in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc adventure and AFT Micromécanique sponsored the 184 crew.
They both come from Brittany and now live in Haute-Savoie.
They are nurses in a pediatric emergency department and met in 2019 through work.
Then a desire to make the rally for one (Ludivine) already amateur of 4×4, which gave the desire to the other (Ophélie) to launch.
Ludivine, the pilot, is a creative person, fond of new experiences. She likes to overcome new challenges; to prove to herself that she is capable of more and more and dreams of living a memorable adventure.
Ophélie, the navigator is a very spontaneous person and full of ambitions. She did not hesitate to take up this new challenge. She hopes that this extraordinary adventure will allow her to discover herself in a different way.
The rally has existed for more than 30 years now, and has been innovative in terms of its concept. Its founding values are courage, surpassing oneself, loyalty, mutual aid and environmental commitment and solidarity.
Since 2010, the Rallye is the only automotive event in the world to have obtained the ISO 14001 certification.
